Chuchuliga (U/E), Jan. 09, GNA – Nab Francis Akanbegme Asangalisa II, the Chief of the Chuchuliga Traditional Area, has expressed gratitude to the government for absorbing the Chuchuliga Community Day Senior High Technical School into mainstream education.

The school was started by the community members and completed with the support of Mr James Agalga, the Member of Parliament for the area, and after several appeals to government from 2018, the school was finally absorbed.

Nab Asangalisa in his address at this year’s Faagu festival on the theme: “Promoting community development through active participation,” said the absorption marked a significant milestone for the community’s educational development after several appeals over the years.

“I take this opportunity to reiterate my heartfelt appreciation to the government for absorbing the Chuchuliga Day Senior High Technical School as one of the public institutions to admit Junior High School graduates.

“This means the school will be in full stream to operate with students and teachers by the next academic year,” Nab Asangalisa II told participants at the festival.

The annual festival initially started as a homecoming event intended to bring the sons and daughters of the area together to renew their relationships as a family and create the platform for them to identify their development needs and mobilize resources to facilitate them.

The festival had over the years attracted the sons and daughters of the area within and outside the community to display their rich culture to the admiration of invited guests.

He urged parents and guardians in Chuchuliga and its catchment areas to enrol their children in the school noting that, “The school would serve no serious purpose if we ourselves fail to patronize it.”

Nab Asangalisa II appealed to the Builsa North District Assembly to construct the road leading to the school to improve accessibility, and further requested the extension of electricity and toilet facilities to the new Chuchuliga market site.

He drew the Assembly’s attention to a stalled Police station project in the Chuchuliga township, and appealed for its completion to help address security concerns in the area.

Mr Thompson Ayaba, the Chairman of the Festival Planning Committee, who emphasised the need for the sons and daughters of Chuchuliga to focus attention on development, said a land was secured for the construction of a community centre to host social and other activities in the area.

He urged the youth to actively participate in the community centre project, devoid of negative practices that could derail their development efforts, “Let us come together with unity of purpose to build a facility that will serve generations yet unborn,” he added.

Mr Solomon Ansoabyie Akogti, the Municipal Chief Executive for the area, commended the chiefs and people of Chuchuliga for their consistent efforts at self-help development projects and assured them of the Assembly’s support.

“The Municipal Assembly will continue to partner Chuchuliga in its development aspirations, including the community centre project,” he said.
