Vienna, Jan 13, (dpa/GNA) – A police officer has been detained in Austria, following the disappearance of a 34-year-old woman.
The 30-year-old officer has now made a partial confession and led his colleagues to a body in a forest, a police spokesman said on Tuesday.
Investigations are under way to determine whether the body is that of the missing woman, he said.
The Austrian woman had been missing for a week. The suspect is being questioned further, according to the police spokesman. The authorities plan to announce details of the investigation at a press conference on Wednesday.
According to the police, the officer initially denied ever having met the woman.
However, investigations revealed that he had met her a few months ago via a dating app.
During questioning, the man finally admitted that he had been in occasional contact with the 34-year-old, including last Friday.
He initially denied having anything to do with her disappearance, however.
