Alleged Adabraka jewelry shop robbers remanded

Accra, Jan. 23, GNA – Six out of the seven alleged suspects who robbed a gold jewelry shop at Adabraka and made away with GHC7.5 million cedis have been remanded. 

This was after the six were put before an Accra Circuit Court on Thursday. 

They are Salim Mohammed, also known as Fariwata, Alhassan Illiasu aka Arab Man, Hamza Agerego aka Lambert or Nene Bawku, Abdul Samed Bonsiabu Larry aka Touch, Fatao Ibrahim aka Motorway, and Abubarkar Sadique aka Fifty Cent. 

The seventh accused person, Baba Chika, aka Oil Money, is said to be at large. 

The accused persons, charged with conspiracy to commit crime; namely robbery, and robbery, pleaded not guilty in the presence of their respective counsels. 

They allegedly robbed the shop in November 2024 and misappropriated GHC7.5 million, which was being transported to the bank. 

They allegedly used a Toyota Highlander vehicle with registration number GN 7357-19 to rob the jewelry shop firing several shots in the air. 

An occupant of the vehicle, which was transporting the money to the bank, was shot in the left leg. 

The trial judge, Mrs Susana Eduful, declined bail despite various applications made by lawyers of the accused persons. 

The court remanded them into police custody assuring an expeditious trial. 

It, therefore, ordered the prosecution to file witness statement and disclosures. 

The matter has been adjourned to February 2, 2026.
