Accra, Jan. 10, GNA – Hosts Morocco and Senegal booked their places in the semi-finals of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) on Friday after securing victories over Cameroon and Mali, respectively.

In Rabat, Morocco eased past Cameroon 2–0, delivering a dominant performance that kept the Indomitable Lions on the back foot throughout.

Brahim Diaz continued his spectacular run in the tournament after scoring his fifth goal to give Morocco the lead, while Ismael Saibari scored the second goal for the Atlas Lions.

The Atlas Lions, chasing their second continental title, return to the same stadium on Wednesday to face the winner of Saturday’s Algeria–Nigeria quarter-final.

In Tangier, Senegal edged Mali 1–0 to become the first team to reach the last four. Iliman Ndiaye struck in the 27th minute from close range after a fumble by the Malian goalkeeper.

Mali’s hopes faded moments before half-time when Yves Bissouma was sent off after receiving a second yellow card.

With a numerical advantage, Senegal controlled much of the second half, though Abdoulaye Diaby forced goalkeeper Edouard Mendy into a brilliant save shortly after the break.

The Teranga Lions missed opportunities to extend their lead through Sadio Mané and Pathé Ciss but held firm to secure a deserved win.

Senegal would face either Egypt or Ivory Coast in the semi-final scheduled for Wednesday in Tangier.
