Sandema (U/E), Jan. 28, GNA – Mr Joseph Ransford Asouk, the People’s National Convention (PNC) Parliamentary Candidate for the Builsa North Constituency in the Election 2024, has reportedly lost his wife in a tragic road accident on the Chuchuliga-Sandema road.
Madam Azumah Asouk, was on board a Bolgatanga-bound Opel Caravan vehicle traveling from Sandema, when the accident occurred near the military barracks at Azimzim, a community within the constituency.
Six other passengers in the vehicle, including the driver, sustained severe injuries and are receiving emergency treatment at the Sandema Hospital.
Although the police had commenced investigations into the cause of the accident, eyewitnesses at the scene told the Ghana News Agency, that the vehicle appeared to have lost control before the crash.
Officials of the National Ambulance Service arrived at the scene and conveyed the six injured persons to the hospital, while Madam Asouk’s body was taken to the War Memorial Hospital mortuary at Navrongo.
The incident has ignited conversations among residents regarding road safety along the Chuchuliga-Sandema-Fumbisi-Wiesi stretch and the urgent need for the government to reconstruct the stretch.
