Kadjebi (O/R), Dec. 03, GNA – A Vision Transit bus with registration number GT 6683-24 has run over and killed a man, his wife, and their two-month-old daughter at Dodi-Mempeasem in the Kadjebi District of the Oti Region, leaving residents in shock and grief.
The tragic incident occurred at dawn on Monday, December 01, 2025, when the victims were reportedly returning from Poase Cement, a nearby community.
Eyewitnesses told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that the bus, travelling from Nkwanta to Kumasi in the Ashanti Region with passengers on board, knocked the family from behind and ran over them.
They alleged that the driver halted briefly before driving off.
A Community Police Assistant, who was alerted quickly notified officers at the Okanta Police barrier, leading to the interception of the vehicle.
Mr Musah Mohammed, the Assembly Member for the Mempeasem Electoral Area, confirmed the tragedy to the GNA.
He said the deceased farmer, Robert Wayo, 48 years, was transporting his wife, Yeme, and their two-month-old baby from Poase Cement to Mempeasem when the accident occurred.
He described the incident as devastating, saying the community had been left traumatised by the sudden loss of three of its members.
The case has since been reported to the Ahamansu Police Station, where police sources also confirmed the incident to the GNA.
The bodies of the deceased have been deposited at the St. Mary Theresa Hospital morgue at Dodi-Papase for autopsy as investigations continue.
