National Theatre to host Tourism Ministry, Agencies for Festival of Nine Lessons & Carols

Accra, Dec. 15, GNA – The National Theatre of Ghana is set to host the Ministry of Tourism, Arts, and Culture (MOTAC), for its annual Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols on December 16, 2025.

Scheduled for 5:00pm at the auditorium of the National Theatre, the festival will bring together the MOTAC and all its 13 agencies in a celebration of faith, culture and national unity.

On the theme; Light of the World, a Cultural and Creative Christmas, the event which will be directed by Actor and Director, Emmanuel Ato Ghartey, forms part of activities marking the Christmas season, and it is expected to draw officials from the Ministry, Heads of allied agencies, artistes, cultural practitioners and members of the public.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency, Mr. Ghartey said the celebration will present a rich blend of classical carols and artistic performances, reflecting both the sacred essence of the season and Ghana’s diverse cultural expressions.

He said the Ministry, led by Madam Abla Dzifa Gomashie, and its agencies would participate in the service as part of efforts to strengthen collaboration within the creative and cultural sector.

This, he said, highlighted the Ministry’s support for its agencies and provided an opportunity for reflection, thanksgiving and renewed commitment to service, while also reaffirming the Theatre’s role as a cultural hub that brought people together beyond performance.

Expressing appreciation to the Minister, and Officials of the National Theatre for the opportunity to direct the event, Mr. Ghartey said the event was also expected to contribute to ongoing initiatives to promote cultural tourism during the festive season, as Ghana continued to position itself as a preferred destination for arts and heritage experiences.
