Kwame Danso (Bono East) Dec. 18, GNA-Mr.Twumasi Ampofo, Member of Parliament (MP) for Sene East in the Bono East Region, has condemned the attack on police and court premises in the constituency.
He advised the youth to remain resilient and emphasized the importance of peace and stability in the area.
He expressed worried about the consequences of the action in the area and hoped such incident may not happen again in the future.
The MP was speaking at celebration of the Dwan Tradittional Council 2025 Fofie annual yam festival at Kwame Danso to commemorate the beginning of a new traditional year and also to express gratitude to the gods for the harvest.
The Festival under the theme: “Promoting Unity, Culture & Development Through Our Heritage,” highlighted the importance of preserving cultural traditions and promoting unity among the Dwan people.
The Yam Festival is an important cultural event for the Dwan people, symbolizing their heritage, dignity, and community spirit. It brings together families, friends, and visitors to celebrate their traditions and promote unity and development.
The Dwan people, a Guan sub-group in Ghana, speak the Dwan language and are primarily located in the Sene West District of the Bono East Region, with Kwame Danso as their traditional capital.
Okofrobour Awase Afura III, Omanhene of the area, thanked all political parties, religious bodies, opinion leaders, and the media, for participating and making the programme a success.
He expressed gratitude to the ancestors for their guidance and called for strength, unity, and peace in the new year.
He also pledged his commitment to development of the people and the area.
The festival featured a beauty pageant to crown Miss Fofie, a thanksgiving church service, and a dinner night for traditional leaders.
