Tokyo, Dec 8, (dpa/GNA) – A tsunami with waves of up to 3 metres could strike the Japanese coastline, following an earthquake offshore, the Japan Meteorological Agency said in a warning issued on Monday.
The 7.6-magnitude earthquake occurred at a depth of 50 kilometres, the agency said.
It warned that the southern coastline of Hokkaido and the northern regions of Honshu were likely to be worst hit.
