Accra, Dec. 19, GNA – Mr Christian Tetteh‑Yohuno, Inspector‑General of Police (IGP), has deployed reinforcement teams and armoured vehicles to Nalerigu and its environs in the North East Region following the burning of two houses and threats of further attacks.

The deployment is to restore calm, protect lives and property, strengthen security in the affected communities, and enforce the curfew imposed on Nalerigu and surrounding areas by the government.

A statement made available to the Ghana News Agency indicated that the teams would assist the North East Regional Police Command in strengthening highway security to safeguard commuters.

It assured the public, particularly residents of Nalerigu, that investigations into the attacks and burning of houses were ongoing and that persons involved would be arrested and brought to justice.
