Tema, Dec. 05, GNA – The Ghana Maritime Authority (GMA) has saluted farmers and fishers, emphasising the critical and interconnected link between maritime trade and agricultural output.

In a statement, in recognition of Ghana’s 41st National Farmers’ Day Celebration, the GMA recognised the fundamental interdependence of Ghana’s key economic sectors.

“As an institution mandated to oversee and facilitate Ghana’s trade and logistics across our waters, we understand that the success of our ports is intrinsically tied to the success of our farms.”

It explained that the abundance produced by the farmers, from cocoa and fresh produce to grains and other commodities, was the wealth that sailed through Ghana’s international ports, reaching global markets and nourishing every region of Ghana.

“We actively facilitate the movement of essential inputs, such as fertiliser and machinery, that support your yields, and we ensure the safe transit of your exports that drive national revenue.”

The GMA also recognised the profound importance of the theme, “Feed Ghana, Eat Ghana, Secure the Future,” which, it noted, aptly reflected the relentless dedication of Ghana’s food producers, whose efforts were the nation’s greatest yield, ensuring food security and powering economic growth.

“As an institution integral to Ghana’s trade and logistics infrastructure, the Ghana Maritime Authority is proud to stand in solidarity with our nation’s food producers, the true anchors of our food security and a vital pillar of economic progress.”
