Ho (V/R), Dec. 27, GNA – Apostle Emmanuel Agyei Kwafo, Ho Area Head of The Church of Pentecost, has urged Christians to celebrate Christmas as a season of deep thanksgiving to God for the gift of His Son, Jesus Christ, rather than treating it as a mere social festivity.
He said Christmas was about appreciating the greatest gift God has given to humanity, which surpasses all material possessions.
Apostle Kwafo made the call while delivering a message at the Church’s Christmas Convention at Ho-Fiave Central Auditorium of the Church in the Ho Municipality of the Volta Region.
He began by engaging the congregation with questions on the meaning, essence and benefits of Christmas, explaining that the celebration centred on Jesus Christ, who God gave freely to the world.
“The gift God has given us at Christmas is greater than any material thing we can ever have. Jesus Christ Himself is the gift of Christmas,” he said.
He urged believers to intentionally take time off their busy schedules during the Christmas season to attend conventions and church programmes to thank God for the gift of life and for giving His Son for the salvation of humanity.
Apostle Kwafo prayed that God would grant Christians listening ears and clear spiritual eyes to change the way they celebrated Christmas, so that the season would bring honour and glory to God and Christ Jesus.
He cautioned against trivialising Christmas, stressing that when believers make time to celebrate Christ and give thanks to God, God would also make time to attend to their needs.
“Christmas is a very important and special celebration. When we involve ourselves fully, we receive the special gifts God has prepared for us during this period,” he noted.
Referring to Luke 2:8-14, Apostle Kwafo said the birth of Jesus Christ was a true historical event recorded in the Bible, marked by divine visitation and heavenly worship.
He said Christmas was a season when God visited His people in a special way and prayed for open heavens for believers to encounter God, receive divine revelations and experience spiritual transformation.
He explained that thanksgiving, praise and worship during Christmas brought joy and peace, just as the birth of Christ brought great joy to the world, attracting even a multitude of angels to glorify God.
Apostle Kwafo said Jesus Christ was born to give life to those who were spiritually dead and to usher peace, joy and true happiness into the lives of humanity.
He prayed against destructive forces, including suicidal thoughts, immorality, failure and poverty, declaring excellence and victory for believers in the name of Jesus Christ.
He urged Christians to live godly lives as a testimony to the world and reminded them that the story of Jesus Christ had the power to change every human story.
