Wa, (UW/R), Dec. 27, GNA – Mobile Telecommunications Network (MTN) Ghana, has donated hampers to 30 new-born babies at the Upper West Regional Hospital in Wa and the Nadowli-Kaleo District Hospital in Nadowli to mark this year’s Boxing Day.
At the Upper West Regional Hospital, the MTN team visited the Obstetric/Gynaecology and Labour Wards, where 10 babies received hampers, while 20 babies were presented with the gifts at the Nadowli-Kaleo District Hospital.
The beneficiaries, who were born within the Christmas period, included a set of male and female twins delivered on December 25, 2025, at the Upper West Regional Hospital.
MTN Ghana said the celebration of Christmas went beyond decorations and merrymaking to include “sharing love, kindness and unforgettable moments,” a tradition the company had sustained for the past 14 years.
The gesture brought joy and unceasing smiles to the faces of the mothers as they received the hampers from the staff of MTN Ghana in the Upper West region, led by Mr Richard Bonseu.
Some of the mothers at the Upper West Regional Hospital, who spoke to the Ghana News Agency (GNA), expressed gratitude to MTN Ghana for the support and prayed for God’s blessings for the company’s continued growth.
Madam Mavis Abepuoring, a 35-year-old housewife and mother of the twins, said: “I am overwhelmed, I don’t know what to say, but I pray that God will continue to bless MTN so that it will continue to support the vulnerable and needy in our society.”
Madam Juliana Nagor, another beneficiary, told the GNA that the gesture came as a pleasant surprise, saying, “I did not expect this. It came as a surprise. I thank MTN Ghana. God bless them.”
The donation formed part of MTN Ghana’s annual initiative to celebrate babies born during the Christmas period, aimed at putting smiles on the faces of new-borns and their mothers.
Nationwide, about 700 baby hampers, comprising baby products such as cosmetics, diapers and toiletries, were distributed to selected hospitals across the 16 regions of the country.
