Dambai (O/R), Dec. 8, GNA-Mr Isaiah Dordoe, the District Chief Executive (DCE) of Nkwanta North, has alerted farmers, palm wine tappers and the public in the enclave to be vigilant and desist from any act that could trigger bushfires in their homes and farms.
The DCE emphasised that it would be very unfortunate for the farmers to sit unconcerned for their investments, especially their yams, cassava, rice, maize, and cereals to be burned off through their negligence.
Speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA), he explained the devastating impact of bushfires in the Oti Region, where outbreaks are common and warned that anyone found responsible for bushfire destruction in the district will face prosecution.
“We would not hesitate to take action against those who put our communities are risks,” it would be tragic for farmers to lose their livelihood due to someone’s negligence.
The DCE appealed to residents to follow fire safety guidelines for the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS).
