Bolgatanga, Dec. 22, GNA – The Holy Ghost Temple Assemblies of God (AG) Ghana, has presented stationeries and undisclosed amount of money to 54 needy pupils in basic schools across the Bolgatanga Municipality.

The gesture is part of the church’s continues contributions in various sectors of the economy to complement government’s efforts towards the provision of quality education in the country.

The beneficiary pupils, led by their respective Assembly Members from the 27 electoral areas in the Bolgatanga Municipality, who were carefully selected for the educational support, received branded exercise books and mathematical sets as part of activities to mark the 15th Anniversary celebration of the church.

Leadership of the church also acknowledged and appreciated their landlords, the Abopam Family, for their support to the church.

In a sermon at a joint church service on the theme: “The power of true worship”, prior to the presentation of the stationeries, Reverend  Dominic Ziba, the Head Pastor of the church, said true worship was human centered service.

He said as disciples of Christ, the church must transform lives through welfare services noting that, “The worship of God should not be an exercise just within the four corners of a building.

“It must certainly be a place where the goodness, mercy, faithfulness and joy of the creator God is demonstrated for all to see. That is people must see the good works of God through the church,” he said.

Reverend Ziba said God counted on Christians to represent Him well in “this world of greed and wickedness. He expects us to showcase His person and attributes as His disciples to the entire world.

“As a practical bible-based church and ministry, we are committed to the holistic development of the human being. The pivotal focus is to shape lives, values, mindset, cultures and ultimately character,” the cleric added.

The Head Pastor said the church was determined to improve the quality of living of all human kind, especially the youth, who were the future leaders of the church and the nation.

Reverend Ziba noted that aside the prayers and moral teachings, leadership of the church decided to partner government and other stakeholders to train, build and take the youth out of drugs and other social vices.

“True worship must be seen in the transformation of lives, families and the neighbourhood,” Reverend Ziba said.

The cleric gave the assurance that the church would continue to partner stakeholders to reduce or possibly eliminate substance abuse, especially tramadol use among the youth and called on parents as key stakeholders to effectively play their role to complement the efforts of the church and the State.

Mr Suleman Ayoroko Atogtue, the Assembly Member for the Zaare West Electoral Area, thanked Reverend Ziba for his exceptional leadership and the initiative to partner Assembly Members to improve quality education and propel development.

On behalf of the parents and guardians of the pupils, the Assembly Member thanked leadership of the church for the support, and further commended leadership for the cordial relationship between the church and its landlords over the years.
