2025 MTN Suncity fest screens Sunyani residents for various health conditions

Sunyani (Bono), Dec. 08, GNA – More than 500 residents in the Sunyani Municipality have undergone a free health screening exercise, to know their various health conditions. 
 
About 30 health professionals from the Sunyani Municipal Hospital and the Philano Community Outreach, a health centered organisation, conducted the exercise at Sunyani, as part of the 2025 MTN Suncity Festival. 
 
The Sunyani-based Suncity Radio, a local FM station with support from MTN Ghana, organised the health screening exercise and beneficiaries were screened for blood pressure, blood sugar high and low sugar levels, hepatitis ‘B’, Body Mass Index (BMI). 
 
It sought to promote preventive healthcare and early detection of diseases, and the beneficiaries also went through breast as well as eye, throat and ear and general examinations. 
 
Some of the beneficiaries, mostly aged people who were diagnosed with serious health implications, were referred to health facilities for further treatment and medication. 
 
Mr Kofi Owusu, the Bono, Bono East and Ahafo Regional Manager of MTN told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) on the sidelines of the screening exercise, that the initiative aligned with broader efforts of MTN Ghana to improve community health awareness. 
 
He said that would reduce the burden of undiagnosed illnesses, saying, it was also in line with MTN’s Corporate Social responsibility to give back to society and its cherished customers. 

Mr Ransford Antwi, the Chief Executive Officer of the Suncity Radio, encouraged the public to go for regular check-ups to protect themselves against diseases and improve their holistic well-being. 
 
Odeefour Ogyeamansan Boahen Kokor ll, the Paramount Chief of the Sunyani Traditional Area, commended MTN and Suncity Radio for the initiative and urged the public to prioritise their health. 
 
Some beneficiaries expressed appreciation for the programme, noting that such outreach activities were essential, particularly for low-income individuals who struggled with the cost of medical care. 
 
As part of the festival, there was also a health walk and the celebrations climaxedaxed with a music concert at the Sunyani Children’s Park, featuring top artists like Amerado, Kooko, Freda Rhymes, Imrana, Tha Blackboi, Alka Youngest, PHM, Kwame Ghana and Abbi Ziam, Partyboi, among others.
