Otiakrom-Shallom (E/R), Nov. 21, GNA — Apostle Kadmiel E.H. Agbelanyo, Founder and Leader of the Seven Day Theocratic World Congregation, has reiterated the need for nations to be guided by divine prophecies.
He explained that without prophecy and its interpretation, humankind would not understand how events unfolded across history.
“The world without divine prophecy lacks history because prophecy impregnates history and history fulfils prophecy,” Apostle Agbelanyo said in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at church’s headquarters at Otiakorm-Shallom, near Aburi in the Easter Region.
The interview was a follow-up to a successful end of a one-day adults Sabbath lesson on the theme: “Is the Prophetic Studies Relevant Today?”
Apostle Agbelanyo said the lesson centered on three major areas, present-day prophetic world occurrences, prophetic fulfilment in the Middle East, and false prophetic predictions worldwide.
He said the study aimed to equip members with a deeper understanding of the role of prophecy in interpreting world events.
He noted that the congregation could only fully understand past and present occurrences through the continuous study of prophetic scriptures.
Apostle Agbelanyo said the Spirit of the Almighty God commands believers to study prophetic scriptures to guide and prepare them for challenges of the 21st century.
On why the study of prophetic scriptures remains important today, he explained that the history of the world would not conclude until the final predictions of the appointed prophets were fulfilled.
He stressed that the spirit of prophecy influences religious, political, and social events globally, adding that members must remain vigilant against false prophecies, as cautioned in Matthew 24:24–26.
Touching on why Apostle John was instructed to eat the little scroll, he said prophetic scripture remains the most valuable spiritual resource for understanding God’s mysteries and the deception in the world.
He said despite the prevalence of false prophets, God continues to appoint true servants to guide His people.
On what type of prophecy is required in the present era, Apostle Agbelanyo stated that while prophecy remains a spiritual gift, the prophetic scriptures themselves were sealed after the first advent of Christ.
He emphasised that the Book of Revelation remains the last and final prophetic message to humankind.
He explained the distinction between prophecy and a prophet, noting that prophets are divinely appointed messengers, while prophecy is a spiritual gift enabling interpretation and teaching.
On how the congregation should manage prophetic predictions, he observed that many pastors, deacons and members were confused due to differing prophetic interpretations across churches.
Apostle Agbelanyo highlighted the variations between Sunday Christian denominations and Seventh-Day Messianic traditions, as well as Judaism, noting that misunderstanding the differences between Mosaic Judaism and Messianic Judaism affects proper interpretation of Old and New Testament prophecies.
Apostle Agbelanyo urged members to approach prophecy with careful study, spiritual discipline and adherence to scriptural truth to avoid falling victim to misinterpretation.
