Judiciary to introduce e-Appeal Records System to cut delays

Accra, Nov. 14, GNA -The Judicial Service will introduce an e-Appeal Records System to streamline appellate processes and reduce delays, the Minister of Finance, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, said on Thursday. 

Presenting the 2026 Budget Statement and Economic Policy to Parliament, he said more than 18 million legal records had been digitised, with 110 additional transcription systems installed nationwide. 

Dr Forson said phase one of the E-Justice Programme was 80 per cent complete, while phase two, covering digitisation of Supreme Court and Court of Appeal processes, was expected to go live in 2026. 

On Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR), he said 4,030 court-referred cases were mediated, with 1,168 settled. 

The Service has also commissioned three new courts: the AMA District Court, Kpone District Court, and Winneba High Court 

The Minister said construction of the Wa High Court and the Superior Courts Office block in Accra would be completed in 2026.
