Berekum (Bono), Nov. 12, GNA-The bereaved family of the 35-year-old tenant who was stabbed to death by his landlord at Awerempe in the Berekum West District of the Bono Region, has appealed for the intervention of the Inspector General of Police (IGP) for the released of the body.
A police statement said, the deceased Bright Abotsi, a cobbler, was stabbed to death by suspect Yaw Owusu, 43 years old over a misunderstanding.
The incident happened Friday November 7, 2025, and the body of the deceased had since been deposited at the Berekum Holy Family Catholic Hospital for preservation and autopsy, as the police prosecuted the suspect.
However, in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA), Madam Akua Abotsi, the elder sister of the deceased and family spokesperson, said the family required the intervention of the IPG because they could not afford to pay for GHC4,000 post mortem medical bills as required by the police.
She said the family required the body to perform the burial and subsequent funeral rites and to relieve them of the emotional pains, worrying that “as we speak now our mother is still in shock.”
Madam Abotsi also called on the police administration to be expeditious in their investigations to serve the deceased and the family justice.
