Washington, Oct 1, (dpa/GNA) – US President Donald Trump, said on Tuesday that Hamas has “three or four days” to respond to the Gaza peace plan, that was outlined in Washington a day earlier.
“We’re going to do about three or four days. We’ll see how it is,” Trump said in response to a reporter’s question.
“All of the Arab countries are signed up. The Muslim countries are all signed up. Israel’s all signed up. We’re just waiting for Hamas,” Trump asserted.
“And Hamas is either going to be doing it or not, and if it’s not, it’s going to be a very sad end,” the US president said.
The 20-point proposal includes an immediate ceasefire, an exchange of the remaining hostages held by Hamas for Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails, the gradual withdrawal of the Israeli army from the Gaza Strip and the disarmament of Hamas.
It also calls for the area to be governed by a transitional government of Palestinian technocrats, under the supervision of an international body.
Hamas is currently reviewing the peace plan for the Gaza Strip “responsibly,” Qatari Foreign Ministry spokesman Majed al-Ansari said on Tuesday.
