New Bomfa (Ash), Oct. 14, GNA – The Oteng-Adusei Foundation, an educational philanthropic organization, has offered financial assistance to nine outstanding yet needy Junior high school graduates of the New Bomfa Methodist Basic School in the Asante Juaben Municipality.

The Foundation has also renovated and stocked an old office in the school with laptops and accessories to aid the teaching and learning of information and communication technology (ICT).

At a ceremony to present cheques to the beneficiaries and inaugurate the new computer laboratory, Mr. Samuel Oteng, Founder of the Foundation, explained that the annual award is carefully designed to ease the financial burden on parents as their wards prepare to enroll in Senior High School.

The award scheme which was launched last year is categorized into the Yaa Amanfo Award (Three Most-Needy-But-Brilliant), Kwame Oteng-Adusei Award (Overall Best Student), Kwaku Oteng-Adusei Award (2nd Best Student) and Yaw Oteng-Adusei Award (3rd Best Student).

Other categories are Yaa Atia Award (Best Female Student), Rebecca Oteng-Adusei Award (Best in Mathematics) and the Kofi Ntiamoah Award (Best in Science).

Mr. Oteng said the scheme would undoubtedly foster academic excellence by promoting healthy academic competition amongst students in the New Bomfa Community.

Again, it would nurture a group of brilliant students to become agents of development in the area.

He urged the students to take their education seriously, encouraging the current final year of JHS students to churn out sterling performance in their examinations.

The Founder used the occasion to call on individuals and entities to support the initiative to ensure that most youth in the community progressed in their academic pursuits.

Mr. Castro Osei Wusu, Headteacher, New Bomfa Methodist Basic School, commended the Foundation for contributing towards teaching, learning and academic excellence.

He pledged to ensure proper maintenance of the new computer laboratory to serve its intended purposes.
