Kpone, Oct. 23, GNA – Mr. Samuel Tetteh Kwashie Morton, the Kpone-Katamanso Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), has inspected a number of roads flagged for construction within the municipality.
The road works are part of efforts to improve transportation networks and enhance socio-economic development.
The inspection was done in the company of contractors and officers from the Kpone-Katamanso Municipal Assembly’s (KKMA) Roads Engineering Department.
The roads include the Kpone Barrier to Kpone Township Road, the Kpone Barrier to Michel Camp Road, the Frenchman to T.T. Brothers Road, and the Afotey Agbo Road.
Mr. Morton said the visit formed part of the assembly’s monitoring and evaluation programme to assess the state of roads that had been earmarked for upgrading and ensure that preparatory work was progressing according to plan.
He described the road infrastructure situation in the municipality as a major developmental challenge that needed urgent government intervention.
“We are engaging the Ministry of Roads and Highways to ensure that these critical roads receive the needed attention and funding support from the central government,” he stated.
Mr. Morton assured residents that the KKMA was committed to ensuring equitable distribution of infrastructure projects, emphasising that all 18 electoral areas within the municipality would benefit from the ongoing and upcoming road works.
“Our aim is to ensure that every community in the municipality feels the impact of development. No area will be left behind,” he noted.
The MCE expressed confidence in the contractors’ ability to deliver quality work within the stipulated timelines and urged them to adhere strictly to engineering standards to ensure durability.
He also charged the municipal roads engineer to maintain regular supervision of the projects to guarantee accountability and value for money.
Mr. Morton reiterated that improving road infrastructure remained one of the key priorities of the assembly and a major focus under President John Dramani Mahama’s development agenda.
He said when completed, the roads would not only enhance mobility but also open up the municipality for investment, job creation, and improved access to education and healthcare.
He reaffirmed his administration’s resolve to work closely with government agencies and stakeholders to ensure that Kpone-Katamanso received its fair share of the national development drive.
\During the tour, the MCE interacted with some residents who expressed appreciation for the assembly’s commitment and appealed for speedy completion of the projects to ease the long-standing transportation difficulties faced by motorists and commuters.
