Accra, Oct. 13, GNA – Black Stars Head Coach Otto Addo has expressed excitement after becoming the first coach to qualify Ghana for two World Cups.
Ghana grabbed a spot at next year’s World Cup after topping Group I with 25 points and are set to make their fifth appearance at the global football showpiece in the USA, Canada and Mexico.
Otto Addo was at the helm of affairs when Ghana featured at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar , however the team was eliminated in the group stages.
Speaking at a post-match press conference, Otto Addo said it was a big milestone for him to record such success with the team and was also good for the team.
“For me, personally, it’s a big achievement. But to be honest, I think more about us. So, it’s good for us, for everyone. Every Ghanaian, it’s good for the players.
“Not only for me. So, this is the most important thing. It’s not a bad time, but also not a good time. It is not about me. It’s about us. And it’s about the team. I’m happy for the players,” he said.
Otto Addo was happy for some new players who would have the opportunity to represent Ghana at the World Cup.
When asked about his future as Black Stars head coach, Otto said he was not worried about his job and was focused on the task ahead.
Interestingly, Otto Addo maintains the record for both playing and coaching Ghana in the World Cup.
