Twyford Ghana Ceramics donates GHC 200,000 to support fund for children of August 6 helicopter crash

Accra, Sept 01, GNA – Twyford (Ghana) Ceramics Company Limited, on Monday, donated GHC 200,000 to the Special Support Fund for the children of the August 6 helicopter crash victims.  

The donation ceremony took place at the Jubilee House in Accra.  

The fund aims to support the education, healthcare, and welfare needs of the children who lost their parents in the tragic accident.  

Mr Li Wei, the company’s Managing Director, expressed his condolences to the government and bereaved families, stating, “We stand with Ghana in this sad time.”  

The donation is part of Twyford’s corporate social responsibility initiatives, building on over GHC 3 million in donations to host communities, schools and government entities in previous years.  

Additionally, the company expects to pay GHC 600 million in taxes to the Ghanaian government at the end of this year.  

Nana Oye Bampoe Addo, a Deputy Chief of Staff at the Office of the President, received the cheque on behalf of the government and expressed gratitude to the company for the kind gesture.  

She urged the company to tap into the government’s 24-Hour Economy Policy to increase production and create more job opportunities.  

Twyford (Ghana) Ceramics was established on January 22, 2016, with a total investment of $323 million on a 400-acre site, creating over 4,500 jobs across production, administration, logistics, and technical functions.  

The company has also created over 10,000 indirect job opportunities through supply chains, distribution networks, and local services.  

About 95 per cent of Twyford’s workforce are Ghanaians, demonstrating the company’s commitment to employee localization.  

The company is not only a leading enterprise in Ghana’s manufacturing sector but also a frontrunner in the export industry.
