Accra, Sept. 8, GNA – Mr Kobena Woyome, the former Member of Parliament for South Tongu, will chair the newly established Government Relations and Stakeholders Subcommittee of the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC).

This comes after the Executive Board of the GOC approved the establishment of the committee to guide government policies on sports, which aligns with the GOC to ensure sports development.

The current GOC Board, led by President of the GOC, Mr Richard Kofi Akpokavie, created this maiden committee to fast-track, advise and come out with policies that also align with that of the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

This appointment forms part of the broader committee structure approved by the Executive Board of the GOC.

In a letter signed by the Secretary General of the GOC, Mohammed Muniru Kassim, and copied to the GOC President, congratulated Mr Woyome on his appointment.

The letter further assured him of the Committee’s commitment to work together for the development of sports in Ghana to benefit millions of young athletes, coaches, and technical officials.

Mr Woyome has vast experience in the administration of sports in the country having once chaired the Parliamentary Select Committee on Youth and Sports in the 8th Parliament.
