Kumasi Sept. 2, GNA – Dr Paa Kwesi Baidoo, Chief Executive of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in Kumasi, has called on the staff to re-dedicate themselves and work towards making the hospital a true and enduring tertiary institution that does not only meet, but exceed the expectations of its clients.
The vision, he said, was to transform the hospital into a true centre of excellence, where staff members’ sacrifices and innovations were duly recognized and rewarded, stakeholders’ support were acknowledged and valued, and services to clients were life changing, cost effective and compassionate.
Speaking at the 2025 mid-year review conference of the hospital in Kumasi, he pointed out that, as a new CEO, he could not achieve that without the active support and cooperation of all staff and other key stakeholders.
Dr Baidoo said his priority would be a comprehensive retooling of the hospital, renew efforts to complete all stalled projects, secure support for new critical infrastructure to provide modern and fit for purpose spaces for clinical services and improve staff productivity and welfare.
To achieve this, his administration had embarked on intensive lobbying drives and aggressively pursuing public private partnerships to improve equipment stock and expand clinical and other allied infrastructure at the hospital.

He would also strengthen existing partnerships and develop new strategic ones to enhance skills development and mobilization of resources to expand access to specialist care.
Dr Baidoo also pledged to promote clinical and operational research, innovation and evidence-based patient care, while encouraging robust patient feedback, reinforce complaints management mechanism and prioritize safe care at the hospital so as to enhance clinical care outcomes and overall client experience.
He highlighted some of the critical operational deficits facing the hospital and said at the moment critical equipment such as C.T Scans, Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Fluoroscopy, oxygen plants and central sterilization equipment of the hospital were either down or working at a fault.
Vital equipment like a Catheterisation Laboratory and mammogram, were completely non-existent.
Additionally, a number of projects that were being executed to provide spaces for clinical and other allied services have also stalled, while the existing ones were undergoing severe wear and tear due to lack of comprehensive renovations over the years.
Dr Baidoo, however, said with the support of the government, the board, management, staff and stakeholders, he would put in every effort to improve the situation.
He said crucial meetings had been held with key stakeholders such as the Ministry of Health, the Ghana Health Service, the GNPC, Ghana National Gas Company, National Health Insurance Authority, and the Bank of Ghana, among others, to court their support towards improving facilities at the hospital.
He called for support from all stakeholders to achieve his vision to improve quality healthcare delivery at the facility.
