Accra, Sept 8, GNA – Ms. Esther Ambah Numaba Cobbah, President of the Institute of Public Relations (IPR), Ghana has been appointed President of the International Public Relations Association (IPRA), marking a historic first for Africa.
A statement issued to the Ghana News Agency IPR-Ghana, said Ms. Cobbah’s election was a significant milestone, making her the first African to lead the 70-year-old global Public Relations body, headquartered in London, United Kingdom.
The statement said her appointment affirmed both her extraordinary leadership in communication and the growing influence of Africa in the global Public Relations arena.
Mr. Peter Martey Agbeko, Chair, International Relations Committee, IPR-Ghana, said the institution was proud of this achievement.
“Esther Cobbah’s leadership is a beacon for Africa and for professional communicators across the world. Her rise to this global position is both historic and inspirational,” he added.
Ms. Cobbah, currently serving as the Chief Executive Officer of Strategic Communications Africa Limited (Stratcomm Africa), has built and led the award-winning agency for over three decades.
Her visionary leadership has earned her both national and international accolades, including IPR, Ghana PR Personality of the Year (2013), CIMG Marketing Woman of the Year (2012), Outstanding Woman of the Year and GOWA Awards (2022).
She was named among 50 top women in PR by PRNews USA in 2015, and IPRA United Nations Award for PR and Sustainable Development (2016), awarded to Stratcomm Africa.
Ms. Cobbah has also served as a distinguished judge on IPRA’s Golden World Awards (GWA), the premier global awards for excellence in Public Relations, and has for the past four years been the only African member of IPRA’s Governing Board.
She was educated at Wesley Girls’ High School, the University of Ghana, and Cornell University USA, where her lifelong commitment to excellence and ethical communication is evidenced among others in the success of the communication agency, Stratcomm Africa, which she set up over 31 years ago.
Ms. Cobbah’s presidency is expected to usher in a new era of inclusion, global cooperation, and innovation in Public Relations worldwide.
