Accra, Sept. 3, GNA – A total of 13 contestants have been selected to vie for the prestigious 2025 ‘ATɔEɛ Mbofra Hemaa’ beauty pageant crown.
With more than 100 auditioning for a place in the finals, only 13 contestants made the cut after going through a rigorous selection process and demonstrating an understanding of this year’s theme.
The theme for this year’s pageant is “Unlocking the potentials of a girl-child through development and the fight against teenage pregnancy and substance abuse.”
Speaking at the unveiling ceremony in Accra, Madam Princess Antwi, the CEO of Carilex Productions, organisers of the pageant, said it promotes youth welfare and development through a unique blend of entertainment, education, and mentorship.
Madam Antwi expressed gratitude to Mr Abdul Majeed Iddrisu Nassam, Municipal Chief Executive of the Effiakuma Municipal Assembly, for gracing the occasion, which underscores the importance of empowering young girls and shaping the future of our region.
“Your presence demonstrates your commitment to supporting this noble cause, and we are grateful for your endorsement.
“We have gathered here today to celebrate the beauty, talent, and intelligence of young girls from the Western Region of Ghana,” she said.
Talking about the theme, Madam Antwi said substance abuse had become a growing concern not only in Ghana as a whole but also in the Western Region.
“Many young people are falling prey to the dangers of opioid drugs like Tramadol, “Red” and other painkillers. The devastating impact of substance abuse on our youth cannot be overstated.
“It has resulted in increasing cases of mental health issues, declining educational performances in our schools and strained social relationships.
“Unfortunately, this is not the only challenge our young girls face. As they navigate the complexities of adolescence, many have also been vulnerable to the risks of teenage pregnancy, which has had a profound impact on their future prospects and well-being.
