Ho (V/R), Aug. 9, GNA – The Volta Regional House of Chiefs has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic helicopter crash at Adansi Akrofuom in the Ashanti Region, which claimed the lives of eight people, including the Minister for Defence, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah.
In a statement signed by its President, Togbe Tepre Hodo IV, the House said it received news of the incident with profound shock and extended its heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families.
“On behalf of the chiefs and citizens of the Volta Region, we express our sincere condolences to the families affected by this devastating loss,” the statement read.
Togbe Tepre Hodo offered prayers for the grieving families and for the souls of the departed.
“We pray that the good Lord will comfort and protect them in this difficult time. May the souls of the faithful departed rest in eternal peace.”
He also extended sympathy to President John Dramani Mahama, the government, the ruling party, and the entire nation.
The tragic crash occurred on Wednesday, August 6, when a military helicopter carrying two ministers of state, three crew members, and others went down in the Sikaman Forest near Adansi Akrofuom.
The delegation was en route to Obuasi to launch the Responsible Cooperative Mining and Skills Development Programme.
