Dambai (O/R), Aug. 21, GNA – Twenty-one communities in the Krachi East Constituency have been connected to the national electricity grid through the facilitation of Mr Nelson Kofi Djabab, the Member of Parliament (MP) for the area.

The intervention is expected to improve the living conditions of residents, providing access to electricity for domestic use, income-generating activities, education, and healthcare.

Mr Djabab, in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA), reaffirmed his commitment to lobbying the Ministry of Energy to extend power to more communities.

“I am not going to sleep at all until every household has access to electricity,” he said, stressing the need for residents to safeguard the infrastructure against bushfires, particularly during the harmattan season.

He also advised households to use electrical appliances responsibly to avoid accidents.

Madam Irene Odame, Krachi East Municipal Manager of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), urged beneficiaries to pay their bills promptly to sustain supply, noting that ECG had adopted a cashless payment system.

Residents expressed gratitude to the MP, describing the project as a step towards improving livelihoods and spurring local economic growth.
