Keta (VR), Aug 20, GNA – The Keta Municipal Health Directorate has been adjudged best health directorate among the 18 districts in the Volta Region in the first half of 2025 districts performance assessment table.
The achievement was drawn from performances in various areas of delivery, which include early initiation of breastfeeding education, achievement of syphilis testing, teenage pregnancy target education and detection, among others.
According to the districts performance feedback data, the Keta Municipal Health Directorate has made significant stride in improving healthcare delivery with some notable achievements, including over 1,236 pregnant women registered for Antenatal Care (ANC) during the period, representing 92 per cent coverage.
In the area of family planning acceptor rate and TD+2 coverage, the Keta municipal health directorate was able to accumulate 36 per cent and 78 per cent respectively on the mid-year chart.
The Keta municipal health directorate had also accumulated 100 per cent test for pregnant women for syphilis and were also ranked among best performing districts that recorded higher percentages of anaemia client at 36 weeks of gestation at the half of the year.
The Directorate according to the table was also ranked the number one with 72 per cent in skilled delivered and 100 per cent in early initiation of breastfeeding rate among the 18 districts in the Volta region.
Other achievements of the Keta Municipal Health Directorate include 100 per cent PNC registrants within the first 48 hours after delivery, 73 per cent of Penta 3 coverage, 76 per cent of Measles-rebulla coverage, 24 per cent of percentage encountered with antibiotic prescribed, and 95 per cent of percentage of medicines prescribed by genetic, among others.
Mr. Emmanuel Kona, the Keta Municipal Health Director, expressed excitement about the achievement and promised that the directorate would re-strategise and work beyond the limit to maintain the first position by the end of the year.
“We thanked God for helping us through the first half of the year with this achievement, congratulations to our gallant health workers and all staff,” he said.
Mr. Faruk Iddrissu, the Administrator of Keta Municipal Hospital, also thanked MTN Ghana and other individuals for their supports over the years and urged the general public to prioritise their health and visit the various health facilities within the area for quality healthcare when needed.
Ghana News Agency gathered that the Keta Municipal Hospital has recently inaugurated a new wound care centre, which was expected to improve healthcare delivery in the municipality and the centre was made possible through the generosity of Mr. Mawuko Dzikunu, the Executive Chairman of Glory Oil Company Limited.
Some resident GNA interacted with expressed satisfaction about the new achievement of the Keta Municipal Health Directorate which was a recognition of its hard work and dedication to providing quality healthcare services.
