In default, each convict will serve 24 months’ imprisonment.

The court, presided over by Mr. Isaac Addo, handed down the sentences after all eight pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit crime and three counts of assault.

The incident occurred on July 11, 2025, at the Methodist Church Polling Station during the Ablekuma North rerun.

The victims -Madam Koomson, Mr. Majeed Mohammed Sanaa, and Mr. Chris Lloyd Nii Kwei – were assaulted without provocation but were rescued by security personnel present.

The convicts are Mohammed Abubakar, a private security officer; Jijani Mahmud, a driver; Anas Mohammed, an estate developer; Mohammed Hamda, a mechanic; Darko Tsibu Samuel, a businessman; Musah Muntari, a station manager; and Ali Saeed, also a businessman.

The court, in delivering the sentence, urged the convicts to serve as ambassadors for peaceful elections in Ghana.

According to Chief Inspector Jonas Lawer, who led the prosecution, the victims reported the incident to the Odorkor Police and were later referred to the Regional Criminal Investigations Department, where medical forms were issued for treatment.

All accused persons were later arrested and charged, although they initially denied the allegations in their caution statements.
