By Samuel Ackon

Abura Tetsi (C/R), Aug 01, GNA-Nana Okogyeama Oprepeh X, Odikro and Elder of Abura Tetsi in the Abura-Asebu-Kwamankese District of the Central Region, has announced the ban on drumming and noise-making effective Friday, August 1 to Wednesday, August 27, ahead of the Okyir festival.

The ban encompasses all forms of noise making activities such as loud speakers, megaphones, drums and other musical instruments.

Nana Okogyeama, has therefore charged all the people, including religious bodies to observe the month-long period to strengthen the peaceful co-existence between them and the traditional authorities, thereby preventing misunderstandings that would compelled the council to take action.

The directive, he noted was to ensure peace, solemnity and spiritual focus as the community observed important ancestral rites.

The annual ban, a significant cultural practice among the Tetsi people, is observed for spiritual reflection ahead of the Okyir festival.

The festival will start on Monday, August 25 to Saturday, August 30, 2025.

Activities lined up for the celebration include quiz competition among schools, clean-up exercise, health screening, beauty contest, and a grand durbar.
