TMA commissions asset recovery team

By Laudia Sawer

Tema, July 31, GNA – The Tema Metropolitan Assembly (TMA) has commissioned a seven-member team to investigate, assess, and recover every asset belonging to the Assembly.

The team comprised the heads of Works, Physical Planning, Estates, Legal, Internal Audit, and Administration, and an Assembly Member.

This was disclosed by Ms Ebi Bright, the Tema Metropolitan Chief Executive, in her sessional address during a General Assembly meeting.

Ms Bright said, “I have commissioned a seven-member team to investigate, assess, and recover every asset that belongs to the people of Tema. This isn’t about territory, it is about resources that should be serving our citizens.”

She said the team would build a comprehensive register of all TMA’s properties scattered across Ashaiman, Sakumono, Kpone, and beyond, adding that every property wrongfully occupied would be recovered.

She stated that most of the Assembly’s buildings, vehicles, and equipment were dilapidated and or unserviceable, a situation that constituted a drain on TMA’s purse and productivity.

TMA’s properties were scattered across the Tema Acquisition Area, in Ashaiman, Sakumono, Kpone, and elsewhere, with many in wrongful hands, embroiled in legal tussles, while many of those within the current metro itself were in deplorable condition.

Ms Bright announced that they were considering the relocation of the Environmental Health and Sanitation Unit to allow the urgent demolition of the dilapidated structure that currently housed them.

The MCE further noted that the head of the Works Department was leading a cross-departmental team tasked to present a comprehensive renovation and recovery strategy and cost to cover all departments and units.

She said the Management Information Services Unit was equally conducting office equipment and networking needs assessments, as well as a plan for necessary actions for their management.
