Wenchi, (Bono), July 6, GNA – Pastor Samuel Addai, the Wenchi East District Pastor of the Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) Church in the Bono Region, has called for enactment and strict enforcement of sanitation bye-laws to improve waste management and sanitation in the Municipality.
He urged the Wenchi Municipal Assembly to collaborate with the Wenchi Traditional Council and relevant stakeholders to enact and enforce the bye-laws for a clean and healthier environment.
Pastor Addai made the call in an interview with the media on the sidelines of a cleanup exercise organized by the church in the Wenchi Municipality.
He expressed concern about indiscriminate littering and disposal of plastic waste and materials in the Wenchi Township, exposing the people to communicable diseases and other health hazards.
Pastor Addai urged the people to change their attitude and help keep the environment clean.
Earlier, he led the congregation of the Wenchi East and West Districts of the Midwest Ghana Conference to clear choked gutters and weedy environment, and swept the streets of the Township and the Wenchi main lorry station.
Some of the commercial drivers who spoke to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) commended the church for the exercise, and appealed to the Wenchi Municipal Assembly to place bins at the station for refuse collection.
