Kumasi, July 28, GNA – University graduates have been urged to cultivate the values of hard work, honesty, and humility as they aspire to succeed in life.
Mr. Kennedy Ohene Agyepong, former Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin South, who made the call, emphasised that achieving one’s goals requires a combination of hard work, integrity, humility, foresight, and unwavering focus.
He was speaking at a “Level-Up” programme organized by the Students’ Representative Council (SRC) of the Akenten Appiah-Menka University of Skills Training and Entrepreneurial Development (AAMUSTED) in Kumasi.
The event, themed “Building Blocks – Pathways to Entrepreneurial Success,” was designed to enlighten students on how to transition from academic life to successful entrepreneurial ventures.

Mr. Agyepong shared insightful anecdotes and real-life experiences to demonstrate how these principles have shaped his own journey to success.
He expressed concern about the growing trend of graduates relying solely on government job opportunities instead of leveraging their education and skills to establish their own businesses.
He encouraged students to look beyond conventional employment and explore the vast potential of entrepreneurship. Through practical tips and inspirational stories, he urged them to adopt innovative thinking and face the challenges of entrepreneurship with confidence.
Emphasizing the value of self-reliance and initiative, Mr. Agyepong highlighted the importance of identifying opportunities and taking calculated risks in the pursuit of entrepreneurial goals.
Dr. Evans Duah, Head of the International Relations programme at the University, also advised students to prioritize preparation in their personal and professional lives. He noted that preparation is key to setting up a successful business and shaping one’s future.
He further encouraged students to demonstrate character and integrity in all settings and to embrace a spirit of volunteerism as part of their development.
Mr. David Akuetteh Otchere, SRC President of AAMUSTED, expressed gratitude to all participants and said he hoped the student body would work together to ensure the success of SRC-led initiatives aimed at equipping students with the skills needed to pursue private business ventures after graduation.
