Bolgatanga, July 29, GNA – The management of the Four Rivers International School (FRS) in Bolgatanga has announced the introduction of Oxford international academic curriculum to learners from the preschool level to Junior High School (JHS) level in September 2025.
Reverend Mrs Rosemond Anaba, the Director of the School, who made the announcement at the school’s 25th anniversary and graduation ceremony, said the next generation of leaders must be globally aware and technologically fluent.
“So, we are preparing to introduce modern tools in digital literacy, project-based learning and Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) programmes,” Reverend Mrs Anaba said.
The programme, on the theme: “Raising transformational leaders,” attracted staff and management of the school, pupils, parents, officials from the Ghana Education Service, the media among other stakeholders.
The school was started at Daporetindongo, a suburb of the Bolgatanga Municipality on September 7, 1999, with the name, Fountain Gate International School, aimed to satisfy the need for high-quality, carefully structured and Christ-centred foundation in education.
It was later moved to its current location, the Wisdom Campus, directly opposite the Bolgatanga Technical Institute along the Bolgatanga-Navrongo highway in November 2009 with a change of name to Desert Pastures International School, and now Four Rivers International School.
The Director, who is also a Senior Pastor at Desert Pastures, a branch of Fountain Gate Chapel in Bolgatanga, described the school as a leadership incubator where transformational leaders and visionary thinkers were raised to ignite and drive changes.
“The future calls on us to deepen our mission, raise children who are academically strong, spiritually rooted and socially responsible. Young people who will not only be prepared for success but also prepared to make a difference.
“We seek to do this through strengthening Christ-centred education, expand access and opportunity. We envision a future where more families, regardless of background, can benefit from Four Rivers unique blend of Christian values and academic excellence,” she said.
Reverend Mrs Anaba said the future of the school included the development of a permanent campus with fully resourced libraries, laboratories, administrative block, a robust alumni network, and new programmes that would meet the needs of the ever-changing world.
She acknowledged that the next 25 years would come with opportunities and challenges, but expressed confidence that, “The God who has brought us this far, will carry us forward.
“As we look ahead, we invite every learner, parent, partner, teacher and stakeholder to dream with us, believe in us, work with us and win with us.”
The management of the school, as part of the event, gave awards to distinguished staff, pupils and personalities for their long service and contributions to the growth of the school and academic excellence.
Reverend Eastwood Anaba, the President of the Eastwood Anaba Ministries (EAM), who addressed stakeholders as the Guest of Honour, congratulated the management and staff of the school for their successes over the years.
He urged them to continue to churn out transformational leaders for the future.
Through the Ministries, Reverend Anaba offered full scholarship from JHS to the University to Master Jed Zuri, a JHS two pupil who received the Academic Excellence Award and further donated an electronic screen to the school to facilitate announcements and propagate information.
Master Zuri in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA), after the programme, expressed gratitude to God, his parents, the leadership of the EAM and the school for the support.
“I’ll study hard to make my parents and Daddy Eastwood proud,” he added.
