Otiakrom-Shalom, E/R, July 17, GNA – The Seventh Day Theocratic World Congregation has successfully concluded a three-day workshop aimed at educating its youth on the sacred principles of marriage.
The event, held at the church’s headquarters in Otiakrom-Shalom in the Eastern Region, was themed “Understanding the Divinity of Matrimony” and was based on Hebrews 13:4.
Addressing participants, Apostle Dr. Kadmiel E. H. Agbalenyo, Founder and Leader of the church, emphasised the divine nature of marriage, describing it as “the most honoured institution in the world.”
He noted that marriage, as ordained by God, is the foundation of human existence, referencing Genesis 1:24-28.
According to Apostle Dr. Agbalenyo, true marriage is a covenant exclusively between a male and a female young adult, both of whom must be morally and lawfully pure.
He explained that such unions must be culturally recognised and legally integrated, typically sealed by the giving of a dowry and sanctified by a senior male relative of the bride.
“Marital intimacy,” he stated, “is divinely established between only lawfully and culturally integrated young adults—a man and a woman who have committed to form a family.”
He added that within this sacred context, sexual union becomes holy and serves as a unifying force for the couple, citing Genesis 2:18-25.
Apostle Dr. Agbalenyo strongly condemned premarital and extramarital relations, referring to them as “unlawful, uncultured and ungodly.”
Quoting Matthew 19:3-6 and Mark 10:12 from the Holy Bible, the cleric said that any form of sexual engagement outside the confines of holy matrimony, including fornication and adultery was a violation of God’s law and brings spiritual, social and moral consequences.
The Apostle further observed that many young adults unknowingly engage in what he termed “fornicated matrimony,” having already indulged in sexual activity before being formally united in marriage.
He lamented the increasing rates of adultery and divorce, stressing that such actions are among the gravest violations of God’s covenant on marriage.
Touching on religious perspectives, Apostle Agbalenyo distinguished between the Jewish and Gentile communities, saying that while Jews uphold the Ten Commandments, temple ordinances and dietary laws, Gentiles, including Christians, Muslims, and other world religions were outside the Mosaic covenant unless they align with biblical commandments and accept Christ Jesus.
Christ Jesus,” he emphasised, “restored the original purpose of matrimony as it was at creation,” and issued stern warnings against violating this sacred union.
He said remarriage among Judaic widows is permitted, but only within the community of faith.
The workshop saw active participation from the youth and concluded with a renewed call for commitment to divine marital values.
The Apostle urged participants to uphold the holiness of marriage and remain steadfast in observing God’s commandments in their relationships and future unions.
