Sekondi, June 05, GNA –The Takoradi Sub metro of the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly has commissioned an 11-member committee to oversee the allocation of spaces to traders at the new Paa Grant Roundabout Market.
The committee would ensure that the spaces were allocated on first come first served bases.
Mr. Francis Ehwie Armah, the Submeter Administrator, at a short prayer and dedication ceremony to open the market said the market primarily would have two market days: Thursdays and Saturdays with regular trading all week round.
He encouraged the traders to take the decision of making the market vibrant …” If you all gather here to trade, there will be no choice for consumers than to chase you here,” he said.
Pastor Eric Mussey, who dedicated the grounds, prayed God to turn the land into Bethel for the numerous traders to become fruitful.
He urged the women to accept their new place, add faith to whatever they were trading in and believe God for bountiful sales each day.
The new Paa Grant Roundabout Market is part of a broader plan by the STMA to decongest the city.
Although there were initial safety concerns regarding the high-tension ECG cables, Mr Michael Dzisi, the Acting Coordinator of the of the STMA told the Ghana News Agency that pre and post analysis of the area by the ECG and staff of the Ghana Atomic Energy Commission have declared the area a safe ground.

“We have the data available for independent audit by individuals and groups who want further information as to the safety of this new facility”, he added.
He said the Assembly, so much valued the lives of its human resources to put it in any form of danger.
Engineer Dzisi said, “even in the event of a cable slip nothing untoward will help because it will fall down without any power to cause harm” and therefore called on the public and traders to help in decongesting the city.
Some traders the Ghana News Agency spoke with were worried about waste management, security of the place and how their wares could be safely stored.
