Swedru Regent admonishes BECE candidates to avoid examination malpractices

By James Esuon

Agona Swedru (C/R), June 9, GNA- The Regent of Agona Swedru, Nana Kweku Esieni V, has cautioned candidates of the upcoming Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) to resist smuggling foreign materials to examination halls to avert arrests and cancellation of examination papers.

He said they have been adequately prepared ahead of the examination, which commences on Wednesday, June 11, and so they must stick to what they have been taught by their teachers to help them come out with flying colours.

Nana Esieni gave the caution when the education committee members of  Swedruman Council of Chiefs, visited the various schools to encourage and inspire the students in their BECE at Agona Swedru.

The committee members toured public and private schools registered to participate in the examinations in the Agona West Municipality.

The Regent said it was important to revise all their subjects notes to help them write the examination and pass with good aggregates.

Nana Esieni assured that the Swedruman Council of Chiefs were solidly behind them and would offer candidates who would pass with a single digit aggregate with financial assistance for them to continue their education.

He urged the candidates not to fear or panic but abide by the rules of the examination and avoid stealing.

He said the Council was going to honour three students who scored single digits in last year’s BECE at this year’s Home Coming celebration of chiefs and people of Agona Swedru scheduled to come off in the second week of August to encourage others.

A total of 2,993 candidates from 70 public and private schools, including 1,146 girls have been registered to write the 2025 BECE in the Municipality.

Mr Patrick King Lumumba Lekey, the Public Relations Officer of Agona West Municipal Education Directorate, said 606 of the figure were from private schools.

Mr Lekey urged candidates to desist from all examination malpractices to avoid trouble.
