Dodowa, June 05, GNA – The Shai-Osudoku District Education Directorate, in collaboration with the Graduates and Professionals of Ga-Dangme Network (GPGD), has organised an educational sensitisation seminar to empower candidates of this year’s Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).

The seminar, held at Dodowa, was aimed at encouraging, educating, and supporting candidates psychologically in preparation for their final exams, as well as enlightening them about the senior school computerised selection and placement process.

Mr. Joseph Dzaka and Mr. Raimi Dauda, officials of the West African Examination Council (WAEC), educated and equipped the candidates on effective strategies for examination success.

They urged the candidates to practice good examination techniques, including time management and question selection.

They also discussed common mistakes to avoid and strategies for staying calm under pressure during such external examinations.

Madam Harriet Lomotey, the Shai-Osudoku District Director of Education, encouraged the BECE candidates to stand firm during the exams and reminded them that their hard work, dedication, and perseverance have prepared them well for this moment.

Madam Lomotey stated that the BECE was not just a test of their knowledge but also a testament to their growth and resilience; therefore, they should believe in themselves, trust in their preparation, and stay focused.

“Your efforts will pay off. Every challenge is an opportunity for you to learn and grow,” she said.

She expressed gratitude to their teachers, parents, and guardians for their unwavering support, guidance, encouragement, and love, which, according to her, have been instrumental in shaping the minds of the candidates.

She wished them well in the exams, reiterating that they must exhibit confidence, calmness, and clarity of thought in answering the exam questions, as they were capable of succeeding.

Mr. Emmanuel Obodai, the President of the Graduates and Professionals of Ga-Dangme Network, urged the BECE candidates to remain determined in their studies and to consider multiple paths to success beyond traditional academic routes.

Mr. Obodai advocated for the exploration of technical and vocational education, reminding them of the government’s Free Apprenticeship Programme initiative as one valuable opportunity for skill acquisition and self-reliance.

He also announced a scholarship scheme for students who pursue studies in the Ga-Dangme language to the top of their academic ladder, a move, he said, was aimed at preserving indigenous culture through education.

According to him, the scholarship initiative would also include job placement opportunities for beneficiaries.
