Aflao (VR), June 17, GNA-The Samglokush Foundation, a non-profit organisation at Aflao in the Ketu South Municipality of the Volta Region, has celebrated this year’s Father’s Day with a community-centered event that honoured the vital role fathers play in family and societal development.
The event, held at T-Square Arena in Aflao, brought together fathers from diverse backgrounds for a day of recognition, dialogue, and celebration.
Mr. Samuel Kush, the Founder and Leader of the Organisation, in an interview with the Ghana News Agency, said that the event was held under the theme “Father’s Day Old School Reunion: Celebrating fathers, remembering the olden days.”
“This initiative is aimed at shining a spotlight on the often-overlooked sacrifices and contributions made by fathers and their figures in the communities which called for acknowledgement,” he said.
He explained that fathers were the foundation to the stability and progress of every family, and the event featured a range of activities, including keynote speeches, personal testimonies, musical performances and games.
“Today is a reminder that our fathers’ dedication, though quiet and consistent, deserves recognition,” Mr. Added.
He said that the event attracted local leaders, families, and volunteers, who participated in interactive sessions that celebrated fatherhood through storytelling and community bonding on topics such as work-life balance, emotional support, and fatherhood in single-parent households.
“Our foundation reiterated its commitment to promote positive fatherhood through mentorship programmes, family support initiatives, and future community engagements.”
Mr. Kush said that the event was a celebration of fatherhood and a reminder of the importance of recognising and appreciating fathers’ contributions to their families and communities while the foundation’s gesture served as a powerful reminder that have empowered and appreciated fathers in their entire communities.
He said comprehension competition for students in lower primary, upper primary, Junior high schools and Senior high schools respectively across Ketu South Municipality was also held as part of the celebration to promote and improve on promoting quality education to inculcate the spirit of learning in the next future leaders.
Some participants who GNA interacted with expressed excitement over the celebration and thanked Samglokush Foundation for the kind gesture and recognition with heartwarming event that honoured the vital role they played in their various families for societal development.
They said Samglokush Foundation’s commitments to appreciate and promote positive fatherhood, and families support in the community was expected to have a positive impact on the community and to promote a sense of unity and togetherness for fathers in development of many communities.
The event was further climaxed with games such playing of cards, draft, volleyball, among others with merry making.
