I will enhance GJA visibility – Zadok Gyesi

By Laudia Sawer

Tema, June 25, GNA – Mr Zadok Kwame Gyesi, a Public Affairs Officer candidate for the upcoming Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) elections, has engaged journalists in Tema, promising to enhance the association’s visibility.

Mr Gyesi stated that communication was very relevant in uplifting the association; therefore, he resolved to enhance the association’s visibility on all social media platforms.

He noted that a visit to the association’s website shows that most of the information there is outdated, stressing the importance of prompt communication across the board.

He also said he would introduce an archival unit where past activities of the GJA could be traced by both journalists and non-journalists.

He added that he would lobby the national executive to use part of the dues as souvenirs for members, such as pen drives, notepads, and others which would serve as working tools and enhance the visibility of the association as well.

The public affairs officer aspirant said members achieving feats must be celebrated just as it is done by other associations, just like the Institute of Public Relations, explaining that pictures and congratulatory messages of such practitioners could be posted on all the media outlets of the association for them to feel belonged and appreciated.

Mr Gyesi further called for the restructuring of the GJA awards categories to ensure that winners receive befitting awards, as, according to him, the least award money he has received among all the awards he has received was that of the GJA.

He further indicated that there was a need to improve welfare among journalists, explaining that not every journalist is interested in applying for an award; therefore, there must be other ways for such members to benefit from the association.
