2025 Africa Seniors Beach Volleyball championship opens in Morocco

Accra, June 26, GNA – Over 25 countries have gathered at Martil, Morocco for the 2025 Africa Seniors Beach Volleyball Championships.

The Championships, which is scheduled for June 23-30, is serving as the qualifiers for the 2025 World Cup in Adelaide, Australia.

Under the auspices of the Confederation of Africa Volleyball (CAVB), the Championships would have both men and women seeking for glory to make an appearance at the World Cup.

According to the CAVB, the top four teams in both male and female would represent the continent in Australia.

Also featuring in the championship is the continental Under-21 version for both male and female and the top winners also competing at the world under-21 championship.

Opening the Championship, Madam Bouchra Hajij commended the countries for their participating despite challenges some of them might have encountered.

She said this year’s event was one of the biggest on the continent and was hopeful it would bring out the best out of them.

She said a total of 88 women’s doubles team representing 22 African countries and 114 men’s doubles from 27 continental countries would be seeking for honours.

Benin, Botswana, Burundi, Cape Verde, Algeria, Chad, Cote d’Ivoire, Egypt, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea Bissau, Kenya , Malawi, Mauritius, Morocco, Mozambique, Namba – Niger – Rwanda, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Swaziland, Togo, Uganda, and Zambia would be competing in the male category.

Benin, Burundi, Cape Verde, Cote d’Ivoire, Egypt, Gambia, Algeria, Ghana, Kenya, Mauritania, Morocco, Mozambique, Niger, Nigeria, Namibia Rwanda, Senegal, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Togo, Uganda and Zambia would participate in the female category.

“Sports is a lifter of economic, human and social development and service to the youth of the Black continent.”

So far, the championships have produced some interesting results after day one.
