1474 candidates begin BECE in Akatsi South

Akatsi (VR), June 11, GNA- A total of 1474 candidates including 688 boys and 786 girls are expected to man six different centers across the Akatsi South Municipality of the Volta Region. 

The Akatsi South Municipal Education Directorate has officially announced the commencement of the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) from Wednesday, June 11 to Tuesday, June 17, 2025. 

In a press release dated June 10 and signed by Mr. Karim Ayaana Umar, the Municipal Director of Education, a total of 1,474 candidates are expected to participate in the examination across the Municipality. 

The figure comprises 1,171 candidates from 57 public basic schools and 303 candidates from 24 private basic schools. Out of the total number, 688 are boys and 786 are girls. 

Mr. Ayaana stated that the exams would be conducted at six examination centres located across four sites in the Municipality namely, Avenor Senior High School, Akatsi No. 1 Basic School, Akatsi Duawodome M.A. Basic School, and Akatsi Senior High Technical School. 

He stated that the Directorate has partnered with Security agencies to maintain order at the examination centres and storage depots to ensure a smooth and secure examination process. 

The Directorate, he said, also issued key guidelines for candidates and parents to observe, such as candidates reporting to the examination centre at least 30 minutes early. 

“Late arrivals will not be permitted into the examination hall once the paper has started. All candidates will be searched before entering or leaving the examination hall. Female candidates wearing veils or head coverings will be asked to temporarily remove them during the search but may wear them again afterwards.” 

He also warned that calculators would not be countenanced, and mobile phones would not be allowed under any circumstances. 

Mr. Ayaana concluded by extending best wishes from his Directorate to all candidates, expressing confidence in their preparedness and encouraging them to uphold discipline and integrity throughout the examination period. 

So far, the GNA observed a smooth atmosphere during a tour to some of the Examination Centers within the Akatsi township.
