Accra, May 17, GNA - Three young Ghanaians will, on May 22 to June 4, participate in an exhibition tour to Poland, led by Mr Thomas Fynn, a legendary photographer, to show their collections of pictures that depict Ghanaian culture, traditions and heritage.

The exhibition would provide them the opportunity to see and operate expensive mirrorless cameras, which would make a great impact in their profession.

The participants, Ms Mary Ama Odurowaa Sarkodie, Ms Ernestina Fynn, and Thomas Fynn, will tour some cities in Poland, including Kraków and Warsaw, to experience Polish cultural heritage while promoting that of Ghana.

Mr Fynn, the Chief Executive Officer of FynnExhibits, a photography organisation specialised in tourism promotion, made this known when his organisation and Kownketsia Foundation, a non-governmental organisation for empowerment of the youth, paid a courtesy call on Madam Abla Dzifa Gomashie, the Tourism Minister, on Thursday.

The call was to show appreciation to the Minister for her continuous support, inform her about the upcoming photography exhibition, and present to her four albums of photo collections by Mr Wojciech Zaremba, a renowned Polish photographer in Ghana.

Mr Fynn commended the Minister for her efforts in promoting photography and said the tour would be a game changer for the participants to help shape the profession in Ghana.

“I am always ready to promote Ghana, and I hope to provide useful guidance for them. It is an opportunity for them to see and operate mirrorless cameras which are quite expensive to buy. I believe the impact of our trip will be valuable,” he said.

Mr Theophilus Seth Opoku, a freelance photographer and Managing Director, PCC Organic Oil Ltd, said the exhibition tour was a Ghana-Poland photographic collaboration, a groundbreaking initiative led by Mr Zaremba.

“There will be inter-country cooking exhibition on traditional cuisines for participants to enjoy. We are planning to cook yam with garden egg-stew. We shall also exhibit our photo collections on television and talk about our work and lives,” Mr Opoku said.

“Photography creates a lot of connections globally, so we hope to get more connections, partnership deals and meet experienced people that we can learn from because we are committed to cultural preservation, artistic innovation and youth empowerment,” he added.

Madam Gomashie commended Mr Fynn for his dedication and mentorship, adding that the initiative was in line with the Ministry’s focus on upscaling the photography sector for employment and growth.

“It is awesome to know that a set of young people have the opportunity to exhibit their artistic skills and photo collections. It ties in beautifully with what we are doing. I am hoping that the exhibition will yield results and create opportunities for other young people,” she said.

The travel, accommodation, feeding expenses and all other activities would be sponsored by Mr Wojciech Zaremba.
