New Abirem Government Hospital receives $10,000 worth of medical aid

New Abirem (E/R), May 17, GNA – Zijin Golden Ridge Limited, a mining company in collaboration with Project CURE, a Non-Governmental Organisation into health, have donated medical supplies worth 10,000 US Dollars to the New Abirem Government Hospital. 

Madam Belinda Frimpong, the Community Development Officer at Zijin Golden Ridge Limited, presented the medical items on behalf of the Senior Manager for Sustainability and External Relations. 

The items included baby birthing supplies, educational models, IV tubing, general surgery packs, crutches, wheelchairs, transformers, and medical scrubs. 

She said the support aimed to facilitate healthcare delivery and bring sustainable solutions to health problems. 

“In line with our value of collaboration, we believe this donation further demonstrates our dedication to this community,” she said. “Zijin Golden Ridge Limited remains committed to supporting the development of our surrounding communities,” she said. 

Dr Atta-Larbi Sakyi, the Medical Superintendent of the New Abirem Government Hospital, expressed his profound gratitude to the donors for the kind gesture and stated that the items would go a long way to support treatment procedures. 

He appealed to institutions and Non-Governmental Organisations to emulate the gesture and contribute more medical equipment to enhance healthcare delivery at the hospital.  

The donation marks a significant step in improving medical resources and ensuring better health services for the community. 

The ceremony was jointly participated by representatives from the mining firm, the hospital’s officials, and Nana Akwasi Amo Kyeretwie, Chief of Abirem. 

The medical aid arrived barely a month after Zijin Akyem Development Foundation completed and handed over a GH₵ 2,048,271.50 paediatric ward, augmenting healthcare for children and easing congestion in the female ward, which previously accommodated both women and pediatric inpatients.
