Ashaiman, May 09, GNA – The Ashaiman Municipal Assembly has confirmed the President’s nominee, Mr Freeman Tsekpo, as the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of the municipality.
Mr Tsekpo expressed gratitude to the president and the assembly members for putting their trust in him to lead the Ashaiman constituency into the developmental agenda of the president.
Mr. Tsekpo received 100 per cent yes votes from the 26 assembly members, made up of 18 elected and eight government appointees.
Accepting the position, he reaffirmed his dedication to the developmental agenda of President John Dramani Mahama, as it aligns with the aspirations of the people of Ashaiman.
According to him, Ashaiman was a vibrant and dynamic municipality and home to industrious people who contribute immensely to the socio-economic growth of Ghana.
He added, however, that the community faces pressing challenges such as inadequate infrastructure, sanitation, traffic congestion, youth unemployment, and security concerns, which are top priorities that his administration would address with commitment and urgency.
The new MCE stated that they would work tirelessly to ensure the expansion and rehabilitation of roads to ease traffic congestion, improve drainage systems to mitigate flooding, and enhance access to essential services such as health, education, job creation, and youth unemployment.
He reiterated that Ashaiman has a youth population that demands opportunities for growth, and his administration would collaborate with relevant agencies and private investors to establish vocational training centres, support entrepreneurial ventures, and create substantial employment opportunities.
Mr. Tsekpo also mentioned that they would strengthen waste management systems, promote community sanitation initiatives and enforce policies that ensure that Ashaiman remains clean and habitable.
He also indicated that crime prevention and safety remained a priority on the agenda; therefore, they would deepen cooperation with security agencies, engage community leaders, and support initiatives that safeguard lives and properties in the municipality.
“Beyond this manifesto’s promise, my administration will operate an open-door policy where citizens of Ashaiman’s voices are heard; the concerns of traders, transport operators, youth groups, market women and residents will not go unheard,” he added.
Mr. Tsekpo also noted that development was a collective responsibility and invited all stakeholders, public and private, to join to develop and make the Ashaiman municipality a beautiful place.
He promised to provide transparent and serviceable leadership to the people of Ashaiman to improve development while urging the staff of the assembly to work hard, exhibit good habits, keep to their duties, and work with him as a team to achieve the aspirations of the municipality.
He also encouraged them to work diligently and be prompt in the service delivery charter, which they signed when employed.
