Ursula Foundation donates to Labone Senior High School

Accra, April 19, GNA – Ursula Foundation, a not-for profit organization has donated relief items to Labone Senior High School, following a fire outbreak which ravaged the girls’ dormitory, leaving dozens of students displaced and essential supplies destroyed. 

The Foundation established by Mrs Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, a former Minister of State and Member of Parliament, donated a wide range of items including 100 pieces of 25kg bags of rice, 100 plastic chairs, 20 mattresses, 50 bags of 50kg maize, 3 bags of 100kg gari and 4 bags of 100kg beans. 

The items presented by a team led by Mr willliam Adu, on her behalf, at a brief ceremony on the school campus, were meant to alleviate the plight and challenges faced by the school.  

The 1982, year alumni group of the Labone SHS, of which Mrs Ursula Owusu-Ekuful is a member and an alumnus were also present at the ceremony to support their own. 
 
Mr William Adu, conveyed the heartfelt sentiments of the Foundation to the school for the unfortunate incident and assured of the Foundation’s unwavering commitment to support the school in any way possible. 
 
“The Foundation was devastated by the news of the fire and immediately resolved to extend help, this school helped shaped our founder, and in times like this, we believe it is our responsibility to stand with the institution” he said. 
 
Madam Rejoice Acolor, headmistress of the school expressed gratitude on behalf of the school’s management, staff, and students, describing the gesture as not just timely, but deeply inspiring. 
 
“This donation could not have come at a better time, we were struggling to reorganise resources after the incident, so this support brings hope, comfort, and a sense of renewal to the students who were most affected,” she said. 
 
Mr Gabriel Annor, Alumni president of the 1982-year group, also commended Mrs Ursula Owusu-Ekuful and her Foundation for their generosity and strong sense of community.  

Whiles calling on other alumni and stakeholders to emulate her example, he pledged the commitment of their year group to explore ways to support the school to ensure they overcame the challenges.
