Dambai (O/R), April 08, GNA – The University for Development Studies (UDS) has organised series of training workshops for the academic and non-academic staff of Dambai College of Education (DACE), to enhance their research, teaching and assessment capabilities, while providing guidance on promotion procedures.
The workshop provided practical skills and methodologies for improving academic delivery, action research, and test item construction.
The session explored the use of portfolios as a tool for evaluating student progress and provided guidance on how to assess portfolios based on clear criteria and student development.
The workshop provided insights on career advancement, emphasising the importance of academic writing, publication and research in securing promotions.
The training focused on promotion criteria and process, preparation of promotion documents, report writing, and curriculum vitae preparation.
The workshops were facilitated by experts from UDS, including,
Dr Mohammed Zubello, led sessions on action research and portfolio assessment, while Dr Simon Alhassan, facilitated the session on test item construction.
Prof. Ibrahim Mohammed Gunu, provided insights on career advancement and academic writing and Dr Amadu Abudu Musah, led the training on promotion procedures for non-teaching staff.
The workshops were deemed a success, with participants expressing appreciation for the knowledge and skills gained.
The training is expected to improve the overall quality of teaching and learning at Dambai College of Education, as well as enhance the staff’s career advancement prospects.
The workshops demonstrated the UDS’s commitment to improving educational standards across its affiliated colleges of education.
By providing capacity-building initiatives for lecturers, UDS aims to foster a more engaging and effective learning environment.
